Dr Ajayi won an African Federation of Clinical Chemists Young Scientists Award

The African Federation of Clinical Chemists Young Scientists gave an award of $200 to Dr Ajayi during the 6th biennial conference of the Association of Clinical Chemists of Nigeria, with the theme: "Towards Sustainable  Clinical Chemistry Practice for The Nation" at the Medical Research Centre, Lagos State University College of Medicine, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria from 12 -14 October, 2016.

He attended the conference in the company of one of his project students, Mr Olumide Alimi-Adeniran, and presented an abstract titled "Effects of the crude peptides of Thaumatococcus danielli leaves and seeds on rat liver cytochrome c oxidase and catalase activities, hepatocyte regeneration, and bacteriocin-producing bacteria". The abstract was an outcome of students' BSc project, having the following co-authors: Attah A. F., Faleke H. O., Alimi-Adeniran O., Sowale O. O.

Dr Ajayi became a member of ACCN during the inauguration of African Federation of Clinical Chemistry AFCC, which was held on the 25th-28th October, 2009 at the Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria, during the 5th Biennial Scientific Conference of the Association of Clinical Chemists of Nigeria. ACCN association is aimed at encouraging education and research in clinical chemistry, enhancing quality control procedures so as to maintain the accuracy and precision of measurements in clinical chemistry laboratories; and to encourage cooperation between physicians and non-physicians groups concerned with application of scientific methods to medical practice (http://www.accnnigeria.org/).
